Dr. Thomas A. Lucas Jr. was raised in Houston, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor University where he majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. In 2006, he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry.
Dr. Lucas is licensed by the Texas Optometry Board as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist, the highest level of optometry licensing in Texas. He takes pride in the quality standard of care at First Eye Care Killeen and First Eye Care Salado. Caring for his patients’ eye health and vision is his highest professional priority.
Dr. Lucas has professional interests in health care policy, eye care advocacy, public eye care awareness, health information technology, emerging diagnostic and treatment options, and eye disease prevention. He is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the Texas Optometric Association (TOA) and the Heart of Texas Optometric Society (HTOS). He is the former president of both HTOS and TOA, and currently serves as the Chair of the TOA Legislative Center. Dr. Lucas also serves on the advisory board of the public awareness campaign "Think About Your Eyes."
Dr. Lucas was honored to be named Texas Young Optometrist of the Year by his colleagues in 2011 and Texas Optometrist of the Year in 2014.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Dr. Reyes received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in 1998 and obtained his optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2004. Dr. Reyes served as an active duty Air Force optometrist from 2004-2007 and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Reserves where he serves as Chief of Optometry for the 489th Aerospace Medicine Flight, Dyess AFB, Texas.
After working in The Woodlands, Plano, and San Antonio from 2007-2010, Dr. Reyes moved to Belton in 2010 to join Belton Eye Care Center and later founded Enlighten Vision & Eye Care in Copperas Cove in 2015 prior to merging his practice with Dr. Lucas and First Eye Care in August 2018. He was the 2014-2015 Belton Lions Club President, 2014-2015 Lions District 2-X3 Sight Preservation, Awareness and Action Chairperson, and served with the Copperas Cove Lions Club.
He is currently a member of the Belton Lions Club and Salado Rotary Club. Much of his free time is spent with his church community and enjoying sports. Most importantly, Dr. Reyes is blessed in marriage to his bride, Cristin, and is the proud father of Ashland and Zachary.
Dr. Larry E Kocian, Jr. attended the University of Houston College of Optometry, earning the Doctor of Optometry degree in 2017. Dr. Kocian completed undergraduate studies at Baylor University where he obtained the Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Forensic Science and a minor in Anthropology. During his time at the University of Houston, Dr. Kocian earned academic recognition as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society and recognition of leadership and service as a member of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society.
Dr. Kocian grew up in Waco, Texas and is proud to once again call Central Texas home. He lives in Harker Heights with his wife, Melissa, and their dog, GoGo. They are an active family and enjoy hiking, running, and reading.
Dr. Kocian is licensed by the Texas Optometry Board as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist, the highest level of optometry licensing in Texas. Today, Dr. Kocian performs comprehensive eye examinations, with special emphasis on eye health. Dr. Kocian diagnoses diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, cataracts and other ocular pathology. He also has a special interest in myopia control and contact lenses.
Dr. Kocian is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the Texas Optometric Association (TOA).
